Define the pool type first
Latham's above-ground range uses modular insulated panels and vinyl liners, with optional steps, coping and elevated decking. Its guidance identifies size, shape, style and customization as cost variables. That is a different scope from a portable frame-and-liner kit.
Specify the actual model, water dimensions, wall system and installation requirements before pricing. Do not assume that a package photograph includes every deck, rail, ladder, cover or planting shown.
Build the installed-cost worksheet
| Line item | What to record |
|---|---|
| Pool kit or structure | Model, liner, wall system, fittings, warranty and delivery |
| Base and site work | Manufacturer-approved leveling, base, drainage and access |
| Installation | Assembly, liner fit, equipment connections and debris removal |
| Electrical and equipment | Pump/filter models and any required professional electrical work |
| Entry and barriers | Compatible ladder or steps, gate/barrier work and local requirements |
| Water and yard completion | Fill, initial chemistry, deck and disturbed-ground restoration |
Compare the same pool with and without optional work
Request one price for the complete operable pool and a separate price for optional decking, heating or landscaping. Confirm whether tax, delivery and disposal are included. This exposes the cost of the pool itself without losing mandatory installation work.
Installed prices for above-ground projects are not collected for this page, so it gives no dollar range. Get dated quotes for the complete installation on your property.
Use fill depth for water and heating estimates
Wall height is not water depth. Measure the actual waterline and allow for the manufacturer's fill level when estimating water purchases or chemical quantities. Decking and excavation do not change those water-volume measurements.
Common questions
Does an above-ground pool avoid all site costs?
No. The base, drainage, access, installation and electrical requirements still need to match the product and property.
Should the deck be included in the pool quote?
List it as a separate scope with its dimensions, materials and access details, even when the same contractor supplies both.
