Measure hose flow with a bucket
Fill a bucket of known capacity and time it in seconds. Flow in gallons per minute = bucket gallons × 60 ÷ filling seconds. A 5-gallon bucket filled in 40 seconds gives 7.5 gallons per minute.
Repeat the measurement three times at the tap setting you will use, then use the average filling time. Measure while other water demand is typical for the planned fill.
Using two hoses
Measure each hose while both are running, then add the measured flows and use Direct flow. Two hoses sharing a supply can reduce each other’s flow; measuring them one at a time does not establish the combined rate.
Filling from empty versus topping up
Water to add is the amount still needed, not always the full pool capacity. When you load a saved pool or carry its volume here, the starting amount is a full fill; replace it with the amount needed for a top-up.
Duration in hours = water to add ÷ flow per minute ÷ 60. Choose a start time to see the estimated finish in your device’s time zone, and print the plan for reference.
Recheck if flow changes
Water pressure and other household demand can change during a long fill. Check the level periodically, follow the pool manufacturer’s filling instructions, and revise the remaining amount if the flow changes. The finish time is an estimate, not an automatic shutoff.
Common questions
How long does it take to fill a 10,000-gallon pool?
At a measured 7.5 US gallons per minute, about 22.2 hours. At 5 gallons per minute, about 33.3 hours. Use your actual hose flow because supply pressure varies.
Will two hoses fill the pool twice as fast?
Only if they deliver twice the combined flow. Measure them while both are running; they may share a limiting water supply.
Can I use this for a partial refill?
Yes. Enter only the water still needed. Loading a saved capacity supplies the full pool volume, so reduce that amount for a top-up.
